Pleasant surprises
Sometimes our day includes a pleasant surprise or two, as was the case earlier this week while visiting Randy’s Pier 61 Restaurant on the Guemes Channel. My eye caught a glimpse of color from a tree near the rocks just north of the restaurant deck. When I went closer to examine the fruit, I discovered peaches! The neighboring tree boasted a handful of bright orange apricots. Closer to home, in our living room to be precise, my wife nurtures a variety of orchids. Among my favorites is this white orchid, which produces a spray of blossoms. I try too infrequently to see the world through the eyes of a child, scanning for things that are new or special. Often the special is what appears at first glance to be the familiar.
