Lovely LaConner
Although city limits lie on the Skagit County side of the Swinomish Slough, LaConner is joined to Fidalgo Island via the renowned Rainbow Bridge. If you take Reservation Road from Highway 20, you travel through the Swinomish Reservation to the bridge. Homes pictured here lie on the Fidalgo side of the bridge. LaConner is a popular attraction for tourists, history buffs and art lovers. It is home to the Museum of Northwest Art and the Skagit County Historical Museum, as well as a number of shops and stores. Among waterfront features are the Salmon Bridge, “covered” by a beautiful salmon sculpture. There is also a marvelous art piece titled “Oh No, Not Again” by Pat McVay. LaConner: a great neighbor.
