Sweet music from Africa
Several hundred people were blessed Friday night with song and dance from the African Children’s Choir, a Christian youth choir established in 1984. Members of the choir delighted their audience at a free performance at Brodniak Auditorium in Anacortes under the sponsorship of Westminster Presybterian and Safe Harbor congregations. The choir serves numerous purposes, including an opportunity for choir members and a means of communicating the needs of their brothers and sisters back home. Over the years, the African Children’s choir has provided an education for more than 6,000 children who otherwise would have gone without. Choir alums include doctors, teachers, social workers and engineers. For more information, or to become a “Friend of the Choir,” see www.africanchildrenschoir.com.
