House of oddities
No trip to the Washington Coast is complete without a stop at Marsh’s Free Museum in Long Beach, where I visited last weekend. Sure, they’ve got seashells, kites and saltwater taffy, but the real attractions include such incredible items as “gatorman” and the two-headed calf. Gatorman, complete with accompanying tabloid “news” articles, is touted as half-man, half-alligator. Uh-huh. Around the corner is gatorman’s pet, a two-headed calf. Oh, by the way, said attractions are no longer living, but have been preserved to the delight of countless museum visitors, especially those of the primary school variety. In addition to these two dramatic exhibits, the museum boasts dozens of trophy animals and birds. To my amazement, there is no restriction on photography…
