New holiday Sidedish

If it’s specialty foods you’re seeking for the holidays, the brand new Sidedish shop in downtown Anacortes is just the place you need to be. The Sidedish, linked to The Dish kitchen and gift shop, is open Saturday and Sunday before closing again to prepare for an “official” opening in January. The shop features a tasty variety of merchandise, including local food products such as those created by Cindy Morton of Cornelia’s Garden. Pastas, sauces, pickled vegetables, candies and much more will provide shoppers with a mouth-watering selection. The shop is open until 6 p.m. Saturday, November 27 and 4 p.m. Sunday, November 28.

About Photographer Steve Berentson

A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
