Arts Fest 2010

This year’s Anacortes Arts Fair opened and closed under sunny skies, with a rainy Saturday thrown in for the hardy. Guest woodworkers included former nursery owner Mike Young (at lathe). Some admired photography, others sculptures, still others food and music. Once again, the Art at the Port venue drew thousands to view juried art. Arts Festival Awards were announced Monday, August 9. They included:
Fred & Christopher Null of Portland, Oregon (slate and metal furniture), Best of the Fest Award. The $2,000 award is co-sponsored by Wells Fargo Bank and the Festival.
Other booth artist winners included $1,000 Creativity Award sponsored by Cornelia

About Photographer Steve Berentson

A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
