Zorn returns to coaching

The name “Jim Zorn” splashed across sports pages again this week when it was announced he will serve as coach and general manager of the new Seattle XFL football team. According to the Seattle Times, this team will begin play in the rebooted league in February 2020. Zorn is pictured here (left) in Anacortes in 2016, when he volunteered as “driver” for lifelong friend Steve Largent during a speaking engagement at Marathon Petroleum Refinery (formerly Tesoro, then Andeavor). Zorn played as the Seattle Seahawks’ first quarterback, lighting it up with a passing game that included his favorite receive: Largent. The XFL news would be even sweeter if it Largent was added to the coaching roster. Quality leaders!

About Photographer Steve Berentson

A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
