It is a pleasure to present these eight images captured Saturday by my 9-year-old grandson Jake Tyhuis. This sequence of eight shots focus on the T-6 Texan “Hog Wild Gunner” piloted by Lt. Col. (ret.) Greg Anders. One shot includes the A6M2 Zero replica flown by Alan Anders. We are grateful to the Heritage Flight Museum in Burlington for giving this eager boy (and aircraft buff) an opportunity to shoot a number of flights from a vantage point designated for select photographers. There were many hundreds of others shots collected on this special day for grandfather and grandson. See http://www.heritageflight.org for more information about this amazing aviation/space museum.
A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
