It was roughly this time of year in 1984 that my dad, Buehl Berentson, decided to take a run at the Republican nomination for Skagit County commissioner, District One. One of his campaign photos was this one at the Campbell Lake farm of John Cameron (on tractor). I always told Dad he was blessed to be “first runner up” in that election. Anacortes resident Bill Vaux went on to win the election, taking the place of Jerry Mansfield after his decision to retire.
