Vibrant. Colorful. Inspiring. I can’t help but wonder what these young Africans are doing today … 16 years after their visit to perform at Brodniak Auditorium in Anacortes! Such talent and enthusiasm: a joy to experience.

If it’s the end of the year, it must be time to prepare for the possibility of snow! Just a few shots here from winters past.
Former Chevrolet dealership owner Boyd Veer donned his Santa cap, shined one of his classic Chevys and headed for the Anacortes Lion Christmas Parade, Dec. 7, 2012. If there’s a parade in Anacortes, odds are good Boyd will be there!
Response has been overwhelming to a series of AnacortesToday “flashback” photos of Anacortes High School students marching and making music in past Lions Christmas parades. These images are from the 2002 parade.
Based on response from a parade photo I posted to Facebook, these shots from Memory Lane are appreciated by AHS alums. So, here are three shots from the 2007 Anacortes Lions Christmas Parade. Enjoy!
It’s that “bask in the memories” time of year again! Also pictured is a truckload of Santa and friends. Backdrop is the former Annie Curtis art painted on the side of the New Wilson Hotel. New art replaced […]

The other two window displays are from Marine Supply & Hardware and a neighboring shop. “Full Throttle Santa” and “Full Beard Santa.” Good memories. […]
One could always count in muralist Bill Mitchell to participate in the annual Anacortes Lions Christmas Parade. This photo was taken in 2006, Bill with salmon and Little Mermaid Ariel, all aboard in his familiar three-wheeled electric vehicle, corn cob pipe in place.
With the traditional Anacortes Tree Lighting event going virtual tonight (Friday, Dec. 4), I thought it would be fun to get aboard the Wayback Machine for some scenes from tree lightings past. Many of those pictured here, including Santa, Mayor Laurie Gere and TJ Fantini, are still actively involved in Chamber of Commerce activities! “Jingle […]
