It was July 2005 when tribes from around the region participated in a traditional Canoe Journey that on this occasion led to the shores of Fidalgo Island. The Samish Indian Nation hosted this summer event, welcoming guests to their Weaverling Spit gathering place.

On a beautiful May day in 2012 I drove to Cap Sante to take photographs of a sailboat race below on Fidalgo Bay. Among competitors were the “Emoyeni” of Whidbey Island and “Pangaea” of Anacortes.
John and Doris Tursi Park is located near the intersection of West 12th and Pennsylvania Avenue, adjacent to the Rock Ridge neighborhood and Anacortes Airport.
