High tech fun

What a morning! I decided to take advantage of some free time to traverse the trestle portion of the Tommy Thompson Trail. On the way out, I had a conversation with my wife, who’s doing the grandma thing in Spokane. Cell phone. Then, after capturing some images with my digital camera, I uploaded to my laptop. Thanks to the fact that Fidalgo Bay Resort is wired for the Internet, I was able to sit in my car and post this photo to my website. The fact is, you can move the “office” to the beach, working on a laptop and maintaining communications via cell phone and email. Big changes since I memorized my first phone number (AL9-2618) and learned to type on a manual typewriter in a high school classroom…

About Photographer Steve Berentson

A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
