Grand Marshal of today’s 4th of July parade in downtown Anacortes was Hollie Brand, who showed her enthusiasm by waving to the crowd shortly after the 11 a.m. cannon blast that “launched” the event. Brand and supporters have mailed more than 1,500 packages to soldiers in Iraq since 2004, when her son was serving there. It was a great Independence Day parade, followed by a well-attended event at historic Causland Park. More photos later. Thanks, Anacortes Women of Today (AWOT).
