Natural Skagit

Skagit Land Trust will unveil a new book this evening in Mount Vernon, featuring 240 photographs and writing by authors including Bill Dietrich and Jan Hersey of Anacortes. I was privileged to have several photographs selected for the book, including this shot at Deception Pass. The book, titled “Natural Skagit: A Journey from Mountains to Sea,” includes photographs by renowned photographers including Lee Mann. In addition to Dietrich, a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, text contributions were made by LaConner author Tom Robbins. Proceeds from the book will go toward the work of the non-profit Skagit Land Trust organization. See www.skagitlandtrust.org for details about the book, available in soft and hard cover.

About Photographer Steve Berentson

A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
