He introduced himself as Scott Thomson, and told his modest Causland Park audience he was up most of the night working on the lyrics to his song. The song he sang was a tribute to U.S. military veterans, several of whom were gathered at the 11 a.m. event in recognition of the national holiday. The last line of his song was: “There’s one last thing I would like to say. Every day should be Veterans Day.” About two dozen people gathered, including City Council members Erica Pickett and Nick Petrish. Port of Anacortes Executive Director Bob Hyde was also in attendance.
