Many people in Anacortes woke up to the news today that the AHS boys basketball team had defeated defending state champ Lynden to move into tonight’s game for the state championship! Those who follow the game cheered last night as Anacortes played an excellent game against league opponent Lynden from start to finish. When the final buzzer sounded, Anacortes stood victorious, 52-44. Tonight’s 9 p.m. game in Yakima pits Anacortes against Pullman. Friday night’s victory was all about team play: stifling defense, aggressive offense … and a stellar performance by Jeremiah Steilow, a California transfer who had limited play time all season due to a pre-season injury.
