Many of the county’s political leaders were gathered in Anacortes Thursday night as the Port of Anacortes and the Port of Skagit held their annual joint session. Port commissioners and staff discussed issues including dredging of the Swinomish Channel and possible pursuit of a county-wide fiber optic network. In addition to port commissioners, the session at City Hall Council Chambers attracted Mayor Laurie Gere, Skagit County Commissioners Ron Wesen, Ken Dahlstedt and Lisa Janicki, several City Council members and LaConner Mayor Ramon Hayes. Also in attendance was EDASC Executive Director John Sternlicht and staff members from members of Congress.
