In and out

State ferry Kaleetan and a sister boat pass each other in the Guemes Channel, one on the way to the San Juans and the other on a return trip to Anacortes. State ferries are a beautiful element of the “scenery” here in this neck of the woods.

Oystercatchers: May 2020

It was a great day. A number of oystercatchers arrived at the beach near the ferry terminal, content to have me photograph them as they moved along the shoreline, drinking occasionally from the fresh water coming from the bluff above. A beautiful bird!

Fun with Canada Geese the past couple of days on a west side Anacortes beach. Dozens the first day, fewer the second. Beautiful birds … noisy when they come and go.

Yakima at DCI for scheduled maintenance

The state ferry “Yakima” is currently in drydock at Dakota Creek Industries (DCI) in Anacortes for scheduled maintenance. According to Washington State Ferries (WSF) it is estimated to return to service on the Anacortes/San Juan Islands route in mid-October.
