Generally Great Blue Herons are quite spooky, which means you need a telephoto lens to get a decent “portrait.” This heron, however, hangs out in a high traffic area at a local marina, so he’s more approachable.
Overcast skies made for nice, even light Friday morning at the Dakota Creek Shipyard. Progress is rapid on this vessel under construction, so I expect I will arrive one morning soon to see she is gone.
After doing some desperately needed weeding Sunday, I grabbed my camera for a couple of laps around the garden. One of my “finds” was this little stick bug with brilliant blue body armor. He was quite patient with me, for which I am grateful.
