Hundreds turned out under sunny Northwest skies to watch the 2009 Work Boat Races at Pier 1 on the Guemes Channel. The Port of Anacortes played a key role in the launch of this waterfront event, which capitalized on a downtown crowd drawn to Shipwreck Day.
No worry about breaking speed limits with this crew, working Monday afternoon to move a sailboat on “T” Avenue in Anacortes.
This boat lift on wheels is a very impressive piece of equipment, operated by Cap Sante Marine in their boatyard at the east end of 30th Street. Always a bit weird to see a large boat moving down the street. This city’s reputation for marine services continues to build.
This was the scene Friday afternoon at the base of the gangway at Cap Sante Boat Haven. The marina will come alive March 29 and 30 as hundreds of people gather to compete in the 2008 Anacortes Salmon Derby.
Hundreds of guests stepped aboard dozens of boats over the last three days as local business people hosted the spring edition of the Anacortes Floating Boat Show. This free event is held at Cap Sante Boat Haven, one of the busiest public marinas in the Northwest.
The weather isn’t quite the same as Friday’s when I took this photo, but the boats are still lined up and ready for guests at the free Oct. 5-7 Anacortes Boat Show at Cap Sante Boat Haven. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. See www.anacortesboatshow.com for details.
Improvements are underway in this building, which will be leased by boat manufacturer Northern Marine. The building, on MJB property, is located just a block from Anacortes Marina. It was used in recent history for an initial phase of construction of an America’s Cup racing vessel.

Today would be a perfect day to grab a cup of coffee or a sack lunch and head to Cap Sante Boat Haven in downtown Anacortes. The marina, owned and operated by the Port of Anacortes, boasts a new, pedestrian-friendly look including lights, benches, ramps and banners. Check out the compass rose embedded in the […]
What a beautiful scene … the “Wishbone” docked at Cap Sante Boat Haven Thursday afternoon. This vessel’s owner is from Whitefish, Montana.
This is an “unidentified floating object” that has been the subject of much speculation over the past weeks. The odd-looking boat was constructed “in secret” just inside the fenceline on Port of Anacortes property adjacent to 4th Street. It then went into the water, and any number of photos including this one from last week […]
I was pleasantly surprised Monday morning to discover old college friend Chip Hall working at Cap Sante Boat Haven. Chip is installing new railings on the main entrance to the marina, a project under contract to Culbertson Marine. This pedestrian-friendly element of the marina redevelopment project will ultimately become a sparkling gem in the crown […]
