It wasn’t a rainbow, but a single band of color on the horizon at the tip of Cap Sante. We were headed home Friday evening with our ice cream sundaes when I spotted the beautiful colors through rows of buildings at Cap Sante Boat Haven. Time was not on my side, as the light … […]
Who among us hasn’t headed for Cap Sante when it comes time to show off our community to guests? Due to some well-timed trimming by city crews, this viewpoint above the paved street is accessible. If you look closely, you’ll see an OARS crew making their way back to their berth after an early morning […]
Their numbers have dropped dramatically over the years, but commercial fishing is still the chosen trade for some Fidalgo Island residents. In the photo, a Cape Ulitka crew works from the deck at Cap Sante Marina.
Dad and Mom returned home last night from a couple of weeks on the East Coast. Their visit was great, but as always, they were happy to head home to Anacortes. Scenes like this one on the east shore of Cap Sante help to explain why we love Fidalgo Island.

On late afternoons this time of year the light is great looking north from the hills of the city’s south side. This photograph of Cap Sante was taken in a neighborhood about two blocks from Grand View Cemetery. That’s Guemes Island in the background. Boats in the foreground are moored at Anacortes Marina.
I took this photo of the old “Packard House” a couple of weeks ago when I noticed excavation work going on around it. Yesterday I read an article in the Skagit Valley Herald that reported the historic home’s future is in jeopardy as preparations are made to construct three new homes in the neighborhood. The […]
When we took a stroll at Rotary Park Tuesday evening we shared the path with this family, making their way back to Cap Sante Boat Haven after spending some time at the beautiful public park at the base of Cap Sante. We counted four harbor seals on the way to and from our car. By […]
