Festival prep

Tuesday’s winds might be more suited for a regatta, but there are billowy clouds and patches of blue as preparations continue for the 2009 PassageMaker TrawlerFest at Cap Sante Boat Haven. Festival crews, contractors and Port of Anacortes staff are working diligently to post signs, erect “big top” tents and manage the influx of hundreds […]

Out for a row

This gentleman rowed from Cap Sante Boat Haven out into Fidalgo Bay the other day during an extreme low tide, followed shortly thereafter by teen sailing students (boats in background). Activity continues to climb as spring weather beckons.

Unusual angle

The angle on this popular Anacortes landmark makes it look odd … but those arriving at the Port marina last Sunday saw the same view as they motored past. It’s Cap Sante, one of the most popular natural assets in this community.

The place to be

Plotting next move

A Cap Sante bathed in sunlight drew a steady stream of visitors Saturday, some on foot but most arriving in vehicles. This couple, dressed in Harley Davidson jackets, sat on a bench overlooking downtown Anacortes as they reviewed a map and plotted out their next move on their motorcycle.

Marina snow

Snow drifted on this garbage can at Cap Sante Boat Haven serves as illustration for the decision to cancel the Christmas Boat Parade originally scheduled to take place Friday night, December 19. Activity at the downtown marina was limited, but many downtown sidewalks are clear and the main streets have been sanded. Consider participation in […]

Waterside view

I had the opportunity to take a quick spin around Cap Sante Boat Haven Monday with Port Director Bob Hyde and a handful of elected officials. This is a waterside view of The Cannery building and the Port’s new fuel dock. Island Adventures and Mystic Seas whale watching boats are tied up to the right […]

A nation remembers

Flags flew at half staff across the nation today (Thursday, September 11) in memory of those who were killed in terrorist attacks in our nation seven years ago. These flags flew at Cap Sante Boat Haven, just beyond the Harbormaster’s Office. To the left is the sculpture “Annie Curtis,” dedicated earlier this year.
