Boat lift on wheels

This boat lift on wheels is a very impressive piece of equipment, operated by Cap Sante Marine in their boatyard at the east end of 30th Street. Always a bit weird to see a large boat moving down the street. This city’s reputation for marine services continues to build.

Ship watch

These two women were among a couple of dozen folks gathered at Cap Sante viewpoint Sunday afternoon to watch the departure of tall ships Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain from Cap Sante Boat Haven. Each ship was “crewed” by people who paid for the privilege of a three-hour adventure including a faux ships’ battle.

Friends enjoy a midday stroll on the new esplanade at Cap Sante Boat Haven. It’s a great time of year, with blooming flowers, bright banners and sunshine reflecting off the surface of the harbor.

It’s a win-win situation at Cap Sante Boat Haven, where the volume of summer boating activity calls for extra help on staff. Summer employment also gives these young people a chance to make some money and build their resumes.

A new gathering place on the shore of Cap Sante Boat Haven is among the nicest spots to steal some R&R in the midst of a day’s activities. A picnic area is located near the Port’s “new-ish” boat launch. What an awesome public asset!

Contrail reflection

An elliptical-shaped jet contrail formed in the sky above Cap Sante Boat Haven is reflected in the water of the North Basin area during the Anacortes Waterfront Festival.

Work on water

Working on the dock of the bay … Port of Anacortes fuel dock, that is. Construction continued Tuesday on an office/shop at the Cap Sante Boat Haven fuel dock, just inside the marina breakwater.

Seattle artist Gerard Tsutakawa and crew (pictured here) spent the morning and early afternoon in Anacortes Thursday, installing the sculpture “Annie Curtis” on a pedestal near the Harbormaster’s Office at Cap Sante Boat Haven.
