Seasonal colors

These bright berries and color-coordinated leaves caught my eye while on a Tommy Thompson Trail walk Wednesday morning. Cool nights contribute to dramatic developments on the landscape. Embrace the change, right?

Signs of the seasons

Don’t look now, but Fidalgo Island’s color palette is changing. Fall is a beautiful season, but I still have hopes for a warm and sunny September.

Fall tracks

These tracks lead directly from fall into winter. I shot this photograph on 9th Street, just down the block from the Calico Cupboard Restaurant. The tracks bring back memories of Tommy Thompson’s custom-built narrow gauge train.

Fall on display

Seasonal window displays like this one leave little doubt about the fact that we are well on our way to Thanksgiving. This stretch along “Q” Avenue in downtown Anacortes is always colorful this time of year. A man and his dog enjoy a morning walk.

Garden gives way

Fall weather has taken its toll on the garden, but “macro” options are always open, no matter the season. I don’t know the name of this bush, but I like the colors and the textures. Rather than raindrops, this morning’s moisture fell under the “heavy dew” category.
