My path from home to forest trails is a city street that becomes more like a country lane. All along, I am treated to a colorful combination of wild plants as well as a variety of flowers, bushes and trees planted by neighbors.
It doesn’t seem like we’ve had much sun lately, but there has been enough to open up blossoms like this one. Look to “Watercolors” in the Activities section to see some photos I took at the Lowe’s garden shop last week. The summer sun will come. I know it.

Early morning is a wonderful time to stroll through downtown Anacortes, dressed this season with colorful banners and flower baskets. It’s fun to watch the business community come alive.
We’ve had a combination of sun and rain in recent days, which is great for our Northwest gardens. This tiny flower growing in the midst of our roses held up well under the rain.
Sunday morning sun casts bright light on flower arrangements placed at the Seafarers Memorial adjacent to Cap Sante Boat Basin in downtown Anacortes.
