Evergreen State
It’s always exciting to reach one’s destination aboard a Washington State ferry, in this case the Evergreen State arriving at Friday Harbor.
Friday Harbor
The view from the hill just above the ferry landing at Friday Harbor. Fall is a great time to take advantage of the ferry system to cruise the San Juans. You can do that as a walk-on (two of you!) in the $23 range; plus $10 for parking.
Yakima Mt. Baker
Summer months mean lots of ferry traffic. August means heavier traffic than usual, and Mt. Baker is more likely to make an appearance.
Soupy morning
Canoe Pass Bridge is “lost” in the mist as fog sweeps through Deception Pass. Friday morning commuters encountered ice and fog. Seasonal demands include extra time in the morning to scrape and defrost, plus extraordinary precautions on back roads.
Capping a Candies
Friday was the big day for a dramatic lift of a pilothouse onto the substructure of another Otto Candies vessel being built at Dakota Creek Industries (DCI). Note the gap between top level and supporting structure. Inch by inch, that gap slowly disappeared. Now welders can get to work.
