The view from the hill just above the ferry landing at Friday Harbor. Fall is a great time to take advantage of the ferry system to cruise the San Juans. You can do that as a walk-on (two of you!) in the $23 range; plus $10 for parking.
Summer months mean lots of ferry traffic. August means heavier traffic than usual, and Mt. Baker is more likely to make an appearance.
