Temporary entrance

Improvements continue at Island Hospital, the latest of which was demolition of the main entry area that dated back to the public facility’s opening in the Sixties. Note: Temporary entrance to both Emergency Room and main hospital is from 26th Street off Commercial Avenue.

Guests streamed through the hospital’s new addition, with proud administrators and staff serving as tour guides. I have deep respect for people who work outdoors, especially in conditions like those we’ve dealt with in recent weeks. Usually I find welders working at Dakota Creek Industries, but I photographed this crew late Thursday afternoon on the roof of the new addition to Island Hospital.
