Cap Sante Marina at the Port of Anacortes hosts thousands of boaters from out-of-town on an annual basis, representing an important source of revenue to many local businesses. To better understand the nature and magnitude of this contribution, the Port contracted with McKinley Research Group last year to estimate the economic impacts of guest boaters […]
It was April 2008 when renowned Northwest sculptor Gerard Tsutakawa and his team delivered “Annie Curtis” to her new home at Cap Sante Marina. The artist stayed “up close and personal” during the entire delivery/unveil process.
It was already closed and literally on the way out, but this 2009 photo shows tiny Wyman’s Marina (previously Robinson’s) on the Guemes Channel in Anacortes (white buildings). Part of the privately owned marina was disassembled by this time, and ultimately demolished as part of a mitigation project by the Port of Anacortes. The blue […]
This is a scale model of the bronze sculpture that ultimately made its home at the main dock entrance to Cap Sante Boat Haven. Sculptor Gerard K. Tsutakawa titled his piece “Annie Curtis,” after the city’s namesake. The model was displayed in 2006, and the actual sculpture was put in place in 2008. It includes […]

Sailors engaged in a race are photographed through the masts of sailboats tethered at the docks of Anacortes Marina.
I was afforded the opportunity Wednesday to “take a ride” in a Port of Anacortes bucket truck that gave me a different perspective on area around Anthony’s Restaurant and Cap Sante Boat Haven. What a wonderful corner of our fair city! If your haven’t already done so in recent months, I urge you to pay […]
Up bright and early Saturday were these members of the summer dock crew at Cap Sante Boat Haven. The pace at this public marina picks up dramatically after the Fourth of July.
This photograph taken from the hill near Grandview Cemetery shows a changing Fidalgo Bay shoreline. In the foreground is Anacortes Marina. Above is Cap Sante Boat Haven, a public marina protected by a new configuration of breakwaters. A new pier will serve the small boat community from Seafarers’ Memorial Park, which also features an environmentally […]
It was very quiet Monday afternoon at Skyline Marina. This photograph, taken near condos on the shoreline, features boats in the foreground, homes on the sweeping hill beyond.
Boat owners are busy these days, taking advantage of weather to spend some time on the water in one of the most beautiful coast regions in the world. This shot was taken from the parking lot adjacent to Anacortes Marina.
