Pier 2, Port of Anacortes. More than 355,400 tons of bulk products were shipped from the Port in 2019. Pictured here is the “Union Taylor” taking on a load of petroleum coke from the HF Sinclair refinery.

Longshoremen load petroleum coke

M/V Soda Phoenix from General Steamship will dock at Port of Anacortes Pier 2 until Oct. 8 to pick up about 22,000 metric tons of petroleum coke, a byproduct of the refining process at HF Sinclair refinery. Loading of pet coke from trucks to ship is handled by local longshoremen.

Cover up

From this time forward into winter, weather can be a serious challenge for dozens of people working on the Anacortes waterfront. This temporary cover was moved into place to shield a Dakota Creek Industries crew working on Port of Anacortes Pier 2.
