Cold and clear

We haven’t had snow recently, but below freezing temperatures mean the accumulated snow will be here for a few days. There wasn’t much activity at the W.T. Preston interpretive center Friday morning, but there was a healthy level of business going on downtown.

Walk into history

Visible from the deck of a boat moored at Cap Sante Boat Haven is the W.T. Preston, a former U.S. Army Corps of Engineers snagboat that now serves as an interpretive center.

Puppy play

A good time was had by all Tuesday at the dog park area adjacent to Cap Sante Boat Haven. Looking inviting in front of a cumulus cloud backdrop was the W.T. Preston.

Signs of the season

Don’t look now, but evidence including these leaves on a tree near Cap Sante Marina indicate we are moving into the cool, often damp fall season. Soon we’ll be pondering the possibility of a drive into the North Cascades, where the changing of seasons makes this awesome area even more beautiful to behold.

W.T. Preston project

Work continues at the W.T. Preston Interpretive Center, a project that includes a new ramp from the deck of the sternwheeler to the entrance of the center. The Preston is located north of Cap Sante Marina, adjacent to The Deport Arts Center.

City begins to bloom

Daffodils are blooming on R Avenue, just a block from the W.T. Preston, one of the community’s many tourist attractions.

Interpretive center progress

It isn’t everyone who has a sternwheeler in the front yard. Progress continues on the interpretive center located between The Depot and the W.T. Preston, a retired U.S. Army Corps of Engineers snag boat. Tourists and residents alike will have a new place to visit this summer.

City invests in history

The foundation is in and work continues in earnest on a city interpretive center adjacent to the W.T. Preston in downtown Anacortes. The new center is located between the historic paddlewheel work vessel and The Depot, a railroad depot now serving as an art center.
