We haven’t had snow recently, but below freezing temperatures mean the accumulated snow will be here for a few days. There wasn’t much activity at the W.T. Preston interpretive center Friday morning, but there was a healthy level of business going on downtown.
It’s only a matter of time now before neighborhood kids with sleds and discs begin to populate the hill on our corner. School’s cancelled for the day, and forecasts call for continued cold, so the white stuff’s likely to be around awhile. It was very quiet when I ventured outside on the deck this morning […]
Snow, right on schedule. Look closely here and you’ll see a garden ornament, “decorated” for the day with a lacy layer of snow.
Here it comes! The morning sky had “that look,” and sure enough, Monday’s snow had begun to accumulate by mid-morning. If you’re going to be out, cozy corners like Penguin Coffee are a great idea. Fellowship, hot beverage and a window to what’s happening on Commercial Avenue. Take care out there…
As evidenced by the snow on this rhody, Tuesday morning temperatures are still below freezing. School was cancelled today in the Anacortes School District. Snowfall has stopped, however, and strong winds have cleared many open areas. My hat is off this morning to all of those who made it to work to keep the wheels […]
It wasn’t heavy snow, but Fidalgo Island experienced a “dusting” Sunday, leaving elevated and shady areas with ice and a light blanket of snow Monday morning. This photograph was taken on March’s Point between the Shell Puget Sound Refinery and the Ford dealership.
Don’t look now, but March has unleashed yet another snowstorm. I lied to myself this morning, suggesting the temperature would rise and the white stuff would be gone by noon. Hardly. Pull out the mittens and earmuffs.
It’s back. Snow again Wednesday evening, and more through the night. I’m guessing many share my sentiments when I say, “It’s pretty, but I’m ready for spring.”
With temperatures rising, the snow from these neighborhood trees is starting to melt. Yes, it’s beautiful, but I can’t say I’m brokenhearted about the prospect of clear streets once again. It was nice to have a white Christmas, though, wasn’t it?
This winter adventurer expressed apprehension on his way by, but it looked to me like he was handling the snow well on his mountain bike. Of course there could have been some challenging hills ahead…
This Monday morning walk on the hills above Anacortes included no breaks for conversation with photographers. These dogs were on a mission, noses to the ground in search of who knows what. I was moving at a much more moderate pace. For more morning photos, see “Anacortes on ice” in Activities section.
Dressed in a blanket of snow Sunday morning was the gazebo at historic Causland Memorial Park in downtown Anacortes.
