Doors open at new Dish

Housewares and cool stuff: bath, baby, gourmet foods, tabletop, clothing and more. That’s what’s happening at the Dish Ran Away with the Spoon, known affectionately by its customers as “The Dish.” Marianne just made the move back downtown this week, opening her doors for opening day of the 2004 Arts Festival. This beautiful new shop is the result of a renovation/remodel by Anacortes Interiors, located next door on Commercial Avenue. The space was formerly occupied by Napa Auto Parts, which coincidentally moved to the south side across the street from the Dish’s last address. Images here include a shot from the stairs looking toward Commercial Avenue; a beautiful red rocker; an African wildlife theme chess set; miscellaneous gift items including table lamp. Get on down to The Dish to check it out. Tell Marianne AnacortesToday sent you…

About Photographer Steve Berentson

A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
