Cantwell visits shipbuilder

U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell heard Wednesday evening about Dakota Creek Industries (DCI) plans to write a new chapter in the city’s marine industrial history book. During a two-hour visit Sen. Cantwell listened to a presentation by the Port of Anacortes. She then asked a series of questions regarding DCI’s expansion/modernization plans and visited the company’s indoor manufacturing building on 4th Street. Among those present at the session was a representative of the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), an agency that Port and DCI officials hope will provide financial support for the local project.
