Ian and Erin wed

One of the first photos posted on this web site was of Ian Clark, two years ago when the Anacortes High School Class of 2003 celebrated graduation (See “Graduation night,” 06/13/2003). On Saturday, Ian and his bride Erin were the focus of my attention as they were married in a beautiful afternoon ceremony at Causland Park. Following the wedding, which featured music from local musicians John Van Deusen and Gaelen Silvia, a reception was held at The Depot. In the third photo, Ian and Erin respond to an impromptu serenade by a trio including groomsman Mark Berentson. In the last photo, Ian and his mother, Beth, share a special moment during an emotional spotlight dance.

About Photographer Steve Berentson

A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
