Land Trust book

About 350-400 people gathered Thursday, November 13 for a party celebrating the publication of “Natural Skagit: A Journey from Mountains to Sea.” The Skagit Land Trust publication will be sold to raise money for the non-profit organization, established in 1992. More than 60 photographers including nature photographer Lee Mann contributed to the publication. Writers including author Tom Robbins (Even Cowgirls Get the Blues) and author/Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Bill Dietrich contributed text. Skagit Land Trust supporters include Anacortes resident John Tursi, who found his way to the Northwest via the Civilian Conservation Corps as a teen. See www.skagitlandtrust.org for details if you are interested in purchasing a book, available in soft or hardcover.

About Photographer Steve Berentson

A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
