Port earns clean air award
The Port of Anacortes recently announced receipt of the Northwest Clean Air Agency’s “Partners for Clean Air Silver Award” for 2017. This award recognizes businesses in Island, Skagit and Whatcom counties that demonstrate at least three consecutive years of perfect compliance with air quality regulations. Of the more than 400 businesses registered with the Northwest Clean Air Agency, the Port was one of only 25 to earn the Silver award. The Port has a Northwest Clean Air Agency air quality permit for activity on Pier 2. Gasoline usage and activity at the marina is also registered under NWCAA.
Port Environmental Specialist Sarah Tchang pointed to Operations and Marina staff for contributions toward receipt of this award, staying in compliance with the permit and demonstrating how important environmental stewardship is for the Port.
