Senff reaches coaching milestone

Anacortes High School Boys Basketball Coach Brett Senff made local history last week in winning the final home game for the 2019-2020 Seahawks. Senff, himself an AHS basketball alum, broke the coaching record with his 213th win. The previous record of 212 wins for Bill Taylor had been in place since 1960! “Hard work will reward you” has been Senff’s coaching philosophy. He and his players racked up a 214th win with a regular season away game in Ferndale Monday, February 10 (70-63). Congratulations, Coach! An impressive accomplishment as a leader in a program with an awesome tradition of competition.

About Photographer Steve Berentson

A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
