It’d been too long, so I turned east off of Highway 20 Tuesday to take a walk around Cornet Bay, another beautiful “neighborhood” under the umbrella of Deception Pass State Park. Enjoy a shoreside stroll or a hike into the forest. Bring binoculars or camera if you enjoy birds. I spotted blue herons, cormorants, common goldeneye, gulls and tiny sparrows. Harbor seals also find their way to the docks here on a regular basis. Plenty of parking, picnic tables and public restrooms, too.
