6th Annual ‘Little Gems’ show

Scott Milo Gallery celebrates its 6th Annual “Little Gems” event featuring small works in an invitational show, Aug. 6-28. This is a juried show with 71 accepted paintings. Kathleen Dunphy, an award winning artist from Northern California, is presenting the awards at 3 p.m. on August 6. The plein artists will be doing a painting demonstration each Saturday of August at the gallery from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

There is no art reception scheduled at this time, however the gallery is open late on the First Friday, August 6 until 8 p.m. Check Facebook and Instagram pages for notices and view the show in its entirety at www.scottmilo.com.

A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
