Guardrails testify to bridge timetable
West side guardrail, intermediate coat
East side guardrail, final coat of paint
Final coat meets second coat, west side of Deception Pass Bridge
Excuse the pun, but there appears to be “light at the end of the tunnel.” Evidence at Deception Pass indicates paint crews are closing in on the end of a high exposure project that dates back to 2019. Guardrails on the Highway 20 spans are just about finished, with just a short stretch of rail waiting for a third coat of paint on the west side of Deception Pass Bridge. Most of the bridge support structure appears to be finished with the shiny new green paint (last of three coats of paint), and much of the contractor equipment and rigging (under the bridge) has been removed. WSDOT contractor is Cekra, Inc. from Wilmington, N.C. Expect to see painting completed by the end of this month!
