It looks like it will be ‘Mayor Matt’
Anacortes City Council member Matt Miller went into Monday night’s council session with a new perspective, carrying a consistent lead among local voters in his bid to replace outgoing Mayor Laurie Gere as the city’s chief executive. Miller, who has led opponent Ryan Walters in successive ballot counts since election night last week, increased the lead Monday to 181 votes (4,170 to 3,989). Walters, also a city council member, sent Miller a note of congratulations before the evening council session. Final vote count is scheduled today.
