Local teen and dog win top international honors

Anacortes teen Jenai Pittis and her Eurasier, Kuma, added International Champion to their titles last weekend! Sixteen-year-old Jenai took Kuma to a National Champion title in 2021 as a puppy. Judges and spectators always comment on Jenai’s prowess in showing and handling. Her patience is especially evident. Kuma is now officially known as: IntCH Timberspitz Sweet Beignet. The most recent title was earned at the International All Breed Canine Association of America, International Dog Show 2023 Peace Arch Sieger. Although the Eurasier breed is well known in Germany and other parts of Europe, it remains rare in the United States. Congratulations, Jenai!

About Photographer Steve Berentson

A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
