Community emergency services, civic organizations and others were well represented at the annual National Night Out event at Storvik Park Tuesday. The event was a hit for adults and children alike, but giveaways ranging from plactic fire helmets to coloring books and stickers were geared toward the younger set. City, county, state and federal agencies were represented, with demonstrations by a NAS Whidbey police canine unit, Anacortes Fire Department, search and rescue units and the Anacortes Police canine unit. Anacortes Mayor Matt Miller and city Fire Chief Bill Harris and Police Chief Dave Floyd were also on hand. Thanks to all who contributed to making this community event possible.
