Total team effort

It was a total team effort Saturday afternoon for the Anacortes High School boys basketball team. Every player had the opportunity to contribute to a 101-67 victory over Ferndale to wrap up the regular season on the way to playoffs. The 101 total points broke a school record of 100 points set by this squad just a couple of weeks ago. After the game, players, friends and family joined on court to celebrate. The Seahawks finished 12-3 in NW District 2A play. Now it’s off to post season play with sights set on the state tournament. Seahawk standout Davis Fogle scored 39 points despite sitting out much of the second half as subs ran the score up to 101 in the final seconds of the game. Other top scorers included Micah Dickison with 24 points and Jake Andrew with 13. Anacortes hosts Sehome Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Williams Gym for the opening game of NW 2A District Playoffs.

About Photographer Steve Berentson

A fourth generation Skagit County native who was moved kicking and screaming from this island community in 1960. I finally reclaimed an Anacortes address in 1980, and I have been in constant celebration of my return since that time. Many of us who call Anacortes home love Fidalgo Island for its natural assets: among them are rugged beaches, pristine lakes, thousands of acres of forestland and some awesome views of the Skagit Valley and surrounding islands. Another element of my love affair with this community is its people, both natives and immigrants. They will “star” in many of my journal entries.
