Inspecting Deception Pass spans
Scenes you don’t see often. Three crews worked over the weekend (Feb. 23 and 24) doing pre-project inspections of Deception Pass and Canoe Pass bridges. Photos from Fidalgo Island, North Beach and Whidbey side of the pass. Painting and repairs will take place over a 2-year period. The shopkeeper at The Bead Store at Elisabeth’s Cottage graciously allowed me to take some photographs of items in her sidewalk display window: pocket watch, jeweler’s tools, compass and more. Like a brief step back in time. The shop is located at 619 Commercial Avenue, featuring “jewelry, furniture, antiques and gifts.”
Winter walk at SHIP
This community’s Ship Harbor Interpretive Preserve (SHIP) is an amazing place to visit regardless of season. Photos here include a duck dining at shoreline and a pair of eagles atop a tree that serves as home for an osprey nest. Also pictured is the wetland boardwalk and an eagle perched near the state ferry Yakima.
