Ten years back at Arts Festival

These images are from 10 years ago — Anacortes Arts Festival 2002 — when I was shooting digital for the first time with a Canon. Note the Parakeet Cafe, long since gone. Also pictured here is volunteer Jon New (black T-shirt), cooking with buddies. The Peruvian musicians are still coming each year! Check out my […]

Lotsa Lidos

More than two dozen Lido 14 Class crews jockeyed for position on Fidalgo Bay Tuesday afternoon on the second day of a week-long regatta. Look for more action off the shoreline of Seafarers’ Memorial Park tomorrow and Thursday. Photo at the bottom is of students banging around close to shoreline.

Bark mortar board

Unique among her classmates … and most likely all other American high school graduates … was Leah Gobert, a Native American student who created her own “graduation hat” out of bark. Gobert, a member of the Anacortes High School Class of 2012, is the first member of her family to graduate from high school. Her […]

Bridge in the shadows

Anyone who crosses Deception Pass bridges (Deception and Canoe) also passes over this stone bridge, just south of the more renowned spans. If you see Smokey, you’re in the neighborhood.
