Not exactly a natural setting (light pole), but this morning I celebrated the sighting of two eagles. Hadn’t seen any for the past couple of weeks or so. It’s obvious this eagle was more than happy to see me and my camera.
This little house finch at beach’s edge tilted its head slightly, as if to ask, “What’s going on here?” Then he was gone.

Beautiful sunny days — and perhaps a scramble to make the most of the last few days of summer — spark a high volume of activity on the streets and sidewalks of downtown Anacortes.
Summer days like Tuesday are popular among workers at Dakota Creek Industries — not too hot, not too cold. DCI has several boats under construction, a couple out of the water for maintenance, paint and repairs. A DCI-built ferry is en route to its new home in San Francisco.

There are bees at the beach that are not welcome, as in the case of picnic interlopers. This is not one of them. I photographed this handsome honeybee doing important pollination work on a delicate wildflower at beach’s edge.
