Light snow fell again this weekend, as evidenced by this “frosting” of trees on the lower slope of Mt. Erie.
Fidalgo Island master boatbuilder Jay Smith launched a custom-built lapstrake boat today at Bowman Bay in Deception Pass State Park. Traditional launch elements included a team of horses and log rollers.
The couple that canoes together stays together. Hmmm. Looked like fun anyway, on a recent visit to Fidalgo Head at Rosario Beach.

In response to a friend’s request, I converted a Tuesday afternoon image from color to black and white. I like this shot, taken on Heart Road enroute to Campbell Lake.
What a wonderful setting for a public walkway: the paved Guemes Trail path accessible from the San Juan Passage neighborhood or the state ferry terminal. The trail toward the ferry terminal features a stretch of boardwalk over wetlands.
It was a full house today for the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce luncheon featuring local candidates, both opposed and unopposed. Pictured in the foreground here are Port of Anacortes contenders Kathy Pittis and Shane Aggergaard.
Apparently the backyard theme today was green. Had to go inside and change my shirt.
Seasonal changes are under way throughout the city, including this side street off 4th Street in front of the City of Anacortes Wastewater Treatment Plant.
This little hummingbird has been a regular lately, and it seems he/she is growing more accustomed to my presence. Action shots have been hard to come by, but portraits on a perch are possible. The splash of red on this bird’s chest is the marking that lets me know we’re welcoming the same garden guest.
