There is plenty to see, do and hear at the Anacortes Farmers Market in downtown Anacortes, open each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Plaza at the Depot (next door to Cap Sante Marina). Oh, bring your appetite and grocery bag too.

Without a doubt, the Twisted Pixies were the most colorful element of the Anacortes 4th of July parade! A great parade, a large and appreciative crowd. Thanks to all who contributed to this annual celebration of our democracy!

Seahawks deliver flag to Seahawks

Lifetime Anacortes Seahawks fan Lloyd Crosby was given the honors Friday afternoon as the Seattle Seahawks delivered a special 12th man flag to an enthusiastic crowd. The AHS Seahawks were established in 1925. Pictured here with Lloyd are Seahawks CJ Prosise (running back) and Joey Hunt (center).

Arts Festival gears up

Preparations are underway for the 56th Anacortes Arts Festival, August 4 – 6. This community event is one of the largest and oldest arts festivals in the Northwest, consisting of more than 250 juried booths filling downtown Anacortes. Tokitae in drydock

If you’re in Anacortes it’s hard not to notice the Seattle-based Tokitae ferry, filling the horizon at the north end of Commercial Avenue. The state ferry is under wraps in drydock at Dakota Creek Industries, undergoing maintenance work that includes painting.

Cabana celebrates 2nd season

Celebrating its second season in Anacortes is The Cabana at Anthony’s, Cap Sante Marina. The Cabana offers casual dining as well as a fish & chip “to-go” bar for quick service dining.  The Cabana has two full-size Bocce Ball courts available for guests while dining.

Classic Cruise In at bowling alley

Friday evening provided perfect weather for the Classic Cruise In and Brewers Night at San Juan Bar & Grill. Classics ranged from coupes to dragsters, convertibles to custom-built. The Cruise Ins are scheduled monthly in the parking lot of the southside bowling alley.

North Cascades Hwy open
